Whilst much of the work has a starting point, I focus more on the experience of being in the landscape than on the geographical specifics of a site, responding to the work as it evolves.
I work in oils and charcoal and use a wide range of printmaking techniques. The unpredictability of the techniques used are also redolant of the unexpected incidents encountered on a journey through the wilderness. Painting and printing in monochrome depicts the atmospheric qualities having an infinite scale of values which black and white can achieve, portraying a sense of danger which is equal to the type of landscape I walk in.
